Vision Issues

The most common of all – nearsightedness. If you use a computer regularly or have been using digital screens for a long period, you will find it difficult to see things in the far distance. You will have your far vision getting blurry. Road signs or hoardings appear blurry to you. You have difficulty reading texts on billboards. Or worse you are having trouble seeing the faces of people. If your far vision is blurry, you have myopia.

Myopia can occur because of your lifestyle choices or genetics. It can also occur because of the elongation of your eyeballs or your cornea getting more curved. The changes in the shape of your eyeball occur because of growing age. Myopia is more common to occur in children than in adults.

Hyperopia is more commonly known as farsightedness. When the shape of the eyeball is too short and the cornea has an abnormal shape, you develop hyperopia.

You will find yourself squinting when reading texts or when focussing on smaller texts. Your far-off vision is good. Wearing reading glasses can solve this problem. You can search for online glasses that have good quality lenses and are comfortable to wear. You will be able to read smoothly and you will not have any more headaches while reading.

In astigmatism, you will have blurred vision at any distance. When you are reading texts, you will either find the horizontal lines or the vertical lines blurry or both. Astigmatism is caused when the light falling on the retina is not evenly distributed. If you have your prescription with you check the column with CYL written on it. It denotes cylindrical power. If you have zero denoted in that column, then you don’t have astigmatism. People generally have a 0.5 to 0.75 cylindrical power.

This can be rectified by adding lenses of required power. You will either have myopia or hyperopia or presbyopia along with astigmatism. A simple rectification in your far-seeing glasses or reading glasses will accommodate for your astigmatic vision.

Presbyopia is common in old age. As you grow older, your optic muscles are not able to move as perfectly as when you were young. After you have crossed the age of 40 you will find it difficult to read books and far off things appear blurry. You will have a headache when trying to focus.

This can be rectified with bifocals or varifocals. Bifocal glasses have two seeing regions. It has a tiny circular region on the lower inner end of the glasses. This part is for reading. You will be able to read when you view from that part of the glasses. The upper part of glasses is for seeing far off objects.

Varifocals (also known as progressive lenses) facilitate your viewing of objects kept at all distances. Varifocals have smoother vision transitions than bifocals.

If you have presbyopia try to wear varifocals rather than keeping two separate cases of glasses for different distances.

What Glasses to look for

You can buy spectacles online from the comfort of your home. Just keep your prescription from your eye doctor handy and browse the several styles and shades for your new glasses.

You can add blue light protection on your reading glasses especially if you work long hours in front of a computer or any digital screen. Any type of digital screen emits blue light. Long exposure to blue light can harm your eyes giving you eye strain and even insomnia.

Another upgrade that you should get for your cheap prescription glasses is anti-glare coating. With an anti-glare coating, you can protect your eyesight from sudden glares and flashes. You can even make your glasses with shatter-proof glasses or dust and water-resistant glasses.

Another choice for you is to make your glasses with transition lenses. Transition lenses change their shade. They become dark in bright lights and clear in normal light or dimmer light. These glasses will work as sunglasses and normal glasses. It will protect your eyes from sunlight and give you clear and sharp vision even when facing the direction of the sun.
